Whakatipu i tō Reo (Grow Your Language) is a reimagining of Spark’s Kupu app, designed to help rangatahi make te reo Māori part of everyday life. We introduced Tipu, a challenge-based system where users set personal language goals and grow a digital Pua, a flower that visualises their progress, inspired by Māori botany and design. By blending gamification with cultural symbolism, the project turns language learning into a living, shared journey that strengthens both personal connection and collective revival of te reo.
