character design
I explored three distinct character body types,
Option A: Boxy Build – A geometric, rigid figure with clear shapes for easy readability and comedic timing.
Option B: Curvy Build – A soft, rubber hose-inspired form with flowing lines and exaggerated gestures for maximum expression.
Option C: Muscular Build – A stockier, more athletic silhouette that aligns with sports themes while keeping a playful edge.
After presenting all three styles, the client chose the Option B , this direction set the tone for the animation's overall look and helped guide the visual consistency across frames.
frame by frame process
Each character was animated on 12.5fps, doubling to 25fps to match the final video’s frame rate. From rough outlines to fully rendered frames, this showcases the layered animation workflow starting with character blocking, then adding color, backgrounds, and finishing with texture and filters to evoke that classic cartoon charm.
Mood board
I used classic cartoons to connect with NFL fans familiarly. The color palette follows NZR+ brand guidelines, creating consistency throughout the piece while supporting the approachable tone.
